Illinois Students Have Their Say

Lobby Day is Wednesday, not today. Unfortunately, I didn't learn the correct date until this morning. All this after I had cleared my entire day for this event. I was ready to learn what Lobby Day is; however, it's only a minor snag in my week- a snag that Student Life created because the incorrect was in the e-mail that had been sent out last week. When I had previously e-mailed my English teacher about this event, I was thinking that it was today. However, I typed Wednesday's date instead. Luckily, she said I could go. . . and I appologized for any confusion about today.
Fortunately, I get to give this schedule another try on Wednesday. I'm really looking forward to a fun-packed day, and I am prepared to roll around our state Capitol in my wheelchair. This is going to be a HUGE event, bringing college students from all over Illinois, I imagine. I'm looking forward to having the opportunity to meet new people, but I'm also a bit nervous about this new experience.
This is an event for lobbying for better education reform for all students in our state. I would like to have the opportunity to encourage our legislators to improve educate reform for students with disabilities. I feel that, like low-income students, we are a population that has a great deal of challenges when it comes to getting a decent education- whether it is high school or college.
