Using this blog, I am able to share my stories of things I like and how college has been such a big change for me- especially going to a college away from home and trying to live independently. Living independently on the campus of UIS hasn't been easy. Knowing that I've faced many challenges this year, I began looking into potential living options for next year- primarily an assisted-living facility here in Springfield.
My parents and I really liked what we saw. We liked what we'd seen so much, we decided to explore it further. Once I returned to UIS, I did some research about it on the internet, and was pleased to learn that it's better than trying to live in the dorm here at UIS. At the time that we had begun to discuss this as a possibility, we were looking into the future- thinking maybe after college, not really thinking now's the time.
Since our visit, I have been in pretty much constant contact with the director of the Mary Bryant Home. I now learned that I need to have my doctor fill out medical release forms. Once the forms get filled out and sent back, it'll be a three-week review period to make sure there is no cause for concern as to reasons why I might not be eligible to live there.
