Making A New Friend. . . Or Two

This trip wasn't just about learning, it was also about meeting new people. Students from all over the country attended the conference. New friendships were born, and old ones were rekindled. It was interesting to meet people from all over the United States. . . people who, unlike me, really had no disabilities at all.
I got to know one of the UIS College Republicans better over the course of this weekend. I was lucky to have a fellow UIS College Republican as one of my three roommates. She was able to help me get dressed, as trying to dress in the bathroom is so difficult for me. At first, I wasn't sure she'd be able to successfully be able to help me, but she did a good job.

My Interesting Life As a Student

Springfield, Illinois, United States
I'm living in Springfield, but I'm originally from Chicago. I am now living in a group home for people who are visually impaired. Living at the Mary Bryant Home has been a huge step in my life. I am now able to get involved in activities every day. I am making lots of new friends, and I'm enjoying living with my new family. Since I'm the youngest person, I feel like I have lots of parents and grandparents, and even my best friend, who is like a big sister, to spend my time with. I don't think I'd change this for anything else in the world.
