Many Voices

I really hope that Lobby Day is inside tomorrow. Since it has started to get stormy, I don't think I'd want to be outside in the ugly weather. Even though I'll be in my wheelchair, I don't have an umbrella- so being outside for any length of time tomorrow would cause me to get quite wet. Getting soaked on Lobby Day would not be very fun at all. I know the other Lobby Day participants would probably feel the same way.
Regardless of the ugly weather, Lobby Day must go on as always. It's very important to fight for what we believe in. I'm participating in this day because I want to see a change in how the disability population in our state is currently perceived. Unfortunately, we don't seem to get much assistance. Majority of people with disabilities don't have an easy time getting jobs, and school is difficult for us as a result of the accommodations we often need to be successful.

My Interesting Life As a Student

Springfield, Illinois, United States
I'm living in Springfield, but I'm originally from Chicago. I am now living in a group home for people who are visually impaired. Living at the Mary Bryant Home has been a huge step in my life. I am now able to get involved in activities every day. I am making lots of new friends, and I'm enjoying living with my new family. Since I'm the youngest person, I feel like I have lots of parents and grandparents, and even my best friend, who is like a big sister, to spend my time with. I don't think I'd change this for anything else in the world.
