My First Week of Having Help

My 2nd week of having Personal Assistants has nearly come to a close. So far, I have had no trouble with lack of assistance. I've had wonderful help these last two weeks, and it has allowed me to somewhat have more of an enjoyable college experience. I have been able to go and have lunch a few days during the week/or dinner when my schedule allows me to take the time to do so.
I can finally do laundry and other cleaning tasks with the help I need. It's fun having someone work for me, and help me with the independent-living things that are difficult for me as a result of my physical limitations. It's nice to be able to still be able to use my system of where I like things to go- even if I'm not the one putting everything away, or physically doing the cleaning tasks.
Meals are great. I now have an opportunity a few times a week to go to the cafeteria and try something new- something that might not even be served at the cafe in the dorm. I'm glad I can do this, especially if it means I can get out of the dorm for a while.

My Interesting Life As a Student

Springfield, Illinois, United States
I'm living in Springfield, but I'm originally from Chicago. I am now living in a group home for people who are visually impaired. Living at the Mary Bryant Home has been a huge step in my life. I am now able to get involved in activities every day. I am making lots of new friends, and I'm enjoying living with my new family. Since I'm the youngest person, I feel like I have lots of parents and grandparents, and even my best friend, who is like a big sister, to spend my time with. I don't think I'd change this for anything else in the world.
