The Hotel

The Minnesota YAF Trip Diaries, Part 2

Once we got to the hotel, more trouble reared its ugly head, which I didn't think was going to happen. Like me, everyone thought that all of the hotel room arrangements had been made properly to ensure that everyone got a bed for the night. As originally planned, I was supposed to share a room with two other girls from UIS. After everyone arrived at the hotel, checked in, and was given their room assignment- I was sure that there wouldn't be any trouble.
I was wrong!
Somehow, I had been placed in a room with four other girls. Now, that's too many in one room- considering that all of us would need the bathroom, and our schedule for the following day, probably wouldn't have let us all have our time in the bathroom without making us late for the day's activities.
Eventually, the situation got worked out, and everyone finished getting ready for the opening reception. While my roommates were getting ready to go to the reception, I learned that I somehow didn't get in the registration records. How could that have happened? I had never before had anything like that happen before, but- like the hotel room situation, this also worked out after all.

My Interesting Life As a Student

Springfield, Illinois, United States
I'm living in Springfield, but I'm originally from Chicago. I am now living in a group home for people who are visually impaired. Living at the Mary Bryant Home has been a huge step in my life. I am now able to get involved in activities every day. I am making lots of new friends, and I'm enjoying living with my new family. Since I'm the youngest person, I feel like I have lots of parents and grandparents, and even my best friend, who is like a big sister, to spend my time with. I don't think I'd change this for anything else in the world.
