My Interesting Life

My life is a story-
Always changing,
And sometimes rearranging.
My life story has many moods-
Happy and sad,.
Sometimes, my life can seem bad.

My life as someone with a disability-
No, not invisibility,
Often makes darkness seem to appear,
But I sometimes I wish I could disappear.
My disability makes me invisible to society,
Even people who only want to stare-
They just don’t care.
All they see is my disability-
They don’t see me
Not for who I am on the inside,
Because society might only see
My disability and not me,
I want to go away-
I don’t want to stay,
To make friends with people
Who will tease me for what I look like. Please just take a hike.

My life is often a bad dream,
I see images of blank stares and jeers.
No one cheers.
I am thought of as a ghost,
But what I want the most-
Is to feel normal
Like everyone else.

My disability is a mask.
People only take the chance,
To see that part of my,
But they don’t bother to ask,
Who I really am on the inside.
But, I know that I have
Nothing to hide.

My Interesting Life As a Student

Springfield, Illinois, United States
I'm living in Springfield, but I'm originally from Chicago. I am now living in a group home for people who are visually impaired. Living at the Mary Bryant Home has been a huge step in my life. I am now able to get involved in activities every day. I am making lots of new friends, and I'm enjoying living with my new family. Since I'm the youngest person, I feel like I have lots of parents and grandparents, and even my best friend, who is like a big sister, to spend my time with. I don't think I'd change this for anything else in the world.
